Before your entire canvas can become the magic that you need it to be, your foundation needs to be magic.
We're not going into concealer and highlights etc. We're just talking about making your bare face even and perfect.
Perfect foundation first means perfect foundation: the shade you use must first match your skin tone. When you apply your foundation, it should blend perfectly into the tones of your face/neck/chest.
While there are times when you're going for a different effect or allowing for a foundation's oxidisation, this post is only about that simple bare-faced, angelic finish.
Your foundation must also meet the needs of your skin. By this I mean, If your skin is dry, your foundation formula must not make your skin drier. The product texture must also work for you: liquid, creme, gel, stick etc
Ok now that that stuff is out of the way, let's get into technique.
There are several ways and tools to apply foundation. For the purpose of this technique, we're using a flat top foundation brush. I really recommend small foundation brushes instead of large ones because with small ones, you have to focus on every section while with large ones you sort of just swipe once or twice.
These bushes have short, densely-packed bristles that we can use to buff. When I say buff think of polishing a floor or a shiny pair of shoes.
A trick to get perfect foundation is to buff your foundation into your skin.
A little at a time, one section at a time, spend time rubbing in your foundation like you do your facial moisturizer.

It's important to start with a little at a time so you can keep adding foundation and build up as much coverage as you want.
Buff it in until you think it has blended in then buff some more.
Ordinarily, we apply foundation until we see the streaks disappear but by going a step further, it becomes indistinguishable from the skin.
Even without concealer and the other enhancements, your foundation and your skin will be angelic.
BONUS TIP: If you just want to use a powder foundation, that can be flawless too.
using a small fluffy face brush like one for powder blush, blend the powder into your skin section by section in small circles. Be sure to tap of excess powder after dipping.
