Oh, I'm obligated to say that when it comes to hair, um, I didn't get too much anywhere including my brows. My eyebrows are light, thin and pretty sparse (like my eyebrows). On top of that, my left brow grows upward like The Grinch. Luckily, I have had some time to get over it so I can work with it.
That said, I went and got some new brow fleeking products which I'm excited about.
E.L.F. Eyebrow Kit in Dark
E.L.F. is a well-known budget brand which was often overlooked because of it's very low prices. More recently, people are being surprised by its quality. Me, not so much. I think just like every brand- budget or high end- there are hits and misses.
I have always been more of an eyebrow pencil girl for many reasons including portability and ergonomics. But I just thought I'd try this creme/gel thing just to see. It comes with a very dark brown brow creme and a lighter powder which I imagine can be used to set the creme and/or used to create lighter hairs at the start of the brow. The dark brown is a great shade for the brows- not too dark and not too light.
Anyway, I was immediately surprised by the shade. It does take some building up to fill in my brows with it though. I also notice that it doesn't smudge or wipe off easily like brow pencils. It comes with a tiny double-ended brow brush to apply both products. The packaging is efficient and neat: a secure clasp tells you it's closed and an attached mirror. So for portability, it's a yes and the tiny brush or whichever brow brush I choose to use, I can get accuracy and neat lines that I need.
In summary, I quite like this.
Anastasia Dipbrow in Ebony
I figured if I was getting into the creme thing, I might as well try a gel product as well. Anastasia is high end brand focusing mostly and initially on eyebrows. As with any hyped product, the world, with one voice, has been chanting the same song since it came out.
Anyway, I took my own sweet time and got this recently. It's a pretty weighty little glass pot. I had a hard time choosing between the shades nearest my needs. It was either Chocolate which is a dark brown or Ebony a not-so-harsh black.
I went with Ebony because I found that brown too warm to be realistic. I can always soften the black I figured.
Anyway, this product does what the E.L.F. product does with added immovability. I'm telling you, this doesn't move. I tried smudging it with my fingers when it dried, I also brushed it a bit with a facial wipe. Nada. Turns out it was created waterproof and especially for humid conditions. (Glory!)
It's also super pigmented, I literally touched the brush to it once (in that gently reverent way of not wanting to disturb a new untouched product, lol) and I did both my brows with that one dip. That's a relief for me because I wondered how long that little pot would last.
In summary, wow. No more faded brows at the beach.
Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep
Meanwhile Benefit is indeed giving me brow. I had tried this product before and I just knew I had to have it. This is a product which I can't fully explain. I think it deposits tiny fibres on your eyebrows to give the appearance of more, fuller and darker brows. You know that's what I need.
It can be a bit misleading to a new user because one day I dug up a forgotten eyebrow pencil to fill in my brows and the shade was a bit off- too light and warm. There was no time to undo them and start over so I just swiped some of this over both brows. They still looked light but I was just like oh well and left. When I saw my reflection eventually, I had wonderful perfect brows...for a belly dancing gypsy. Those brows were dark as night.
I learnt that it darkens when it dries so I probably shouldn't layer it with another brow filling product. The short mascara wand used to apply is good for catching the tiny hairs at the start of your brows without painting the skin, which is really the trick to natural-looking brows.
In summary, a solution for those who need more brows. (That's me.)
*Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel
Ok so knowing I have no brows, I wouldn't have sought after brow gel. This is supposed to lay your brows in place and keep them there. What I need is actual brows, please.
Anyway, I got this in one of my subscription boxes.
I have since discovered that I can use this for my left The Grinch eyebrow. I can fill in my brows as usual and lay them in place with this clear gel and they will actually stay there and Grinch is gone for the day.
I also use this for the start of my brows- to brush them up and define the hairs there.
So yeah, this product is pretty useful- more suitable for people with more brow hairs to tame but hey, meantime I'm taming the few I have.
Do you use any brow products at all? Feel free to share:)
