Fix It: Powder Face

After Elf Mist & Set
I love the full coverage look and that's my downfall.

I can't tell you how many times I have done my face: the works and I end up with the heavy, powdered look.

Lucky for me, and no doubt the people who have to look at me every day, I have found a way to have it both ways.

The answer: misting the face.

The options: setting spray, finishing spray, rose water and water.

Makeup setting sprays come in three formulas: alcohol/water/acrylic, water/acrylic based and alcohol/water based.

Alcohol-based setting sprays  practically freeze your makeup in place with a  matte finish while  arming it against the environmental offenders that degrade your beautiful work.

Example: Ben Nye Final Seal (which is pretty cool) for my high-performance nights.

Finishing sprays are more gentle and give a dewy/semi-matte finish. For oily skin like mine, this doesn't last forever and can't hold up in hot conditions.

Example: ELF Mist & Set

Before Elf Mist and Set
Rose water is pretty straight forward. You can buy it and that can be quite pricey or you can make it yourself with a few drops of rose essential oil and pure water. You can play with the formula until you find your perfect fit. It can get a bit oily with too much oil and/or too little water.

And good old fashioned water can work to remove that heavy powder look.

All of the above-mentioned methods eliminate some of that powder without actually upsetting your work.

If you're making your own setting spray, you will definitely need a misting spray bottle. Not spurts; not streams but a light mist a few inches from your face will do all the work for you.

That's how I can enjoy my full coverage look without the heavy powder finish.

** Yea...I fixed those brows before I actually left home.
